How do I get a library card?
Answer
As of Fall 2020 all new students/staff and faculty will have their library card barcode embedded on their student ID. All information will be pre-poulated in our library system, so you do not have to do anything special to get a library card. Just present your ID at the desk upon check out and you are all set!
If you have an older ID (before fall of 2020) and would like to register for a library card, you need to come to the circulation desk at the Whittemore Library. You will be asked to fill out a registration card. A library barcode sticker will be applied to your Framingham State ID card and your information will be entered to set up your library account. The whole process only takes a few minutes.
If you are a continuing education or graduate student and do not have a Framingham State ID card, bring some proof of enrollment. This could be a copy of your bill, anything from the registrar, or even a syllabus. We will then issue you a library card.
If you are an online student (who never comes to campus) and you need a library card number to place an Interlibrary Loan request, send an email to circulation@framingham.edu with your name, address, phone, email, student ID number and year of graduation. Once we have the information, we will make your library record and email you a barcode.
NOTE: do not use the “get a library card” option from the Minuteman catalog. That is only for patrons at public libraries, not academic libraries.
